Following the Tewksbery floods, 2009, I participated in a regional multi-agency flood rescue simulation with the Severn Area Rescue Association. I think that co-operation between rescue and aid agencies is essential for dealing with a crisis/disaster. I would recommended such multi-agency excercises to develop response structures, making disaster response more efficient.
I would also recommend grassroots work with all sections of society, including young people. I would recommend introducing first aid qualifications to schools, as well as offering opportunities to train in rescue skills as of UWC Atlantic College.
