Did you hear…
Posted on March 16, 2011 | 1 Comment"Have you heard what happened to Japan" seem to be the common phrase of the day. This phrase is quite common when a natural disaster occurs. "Did you hear about Katrina", "did you hear about Indonesia", "did you hear about Haiti". -

The time is now and the move is yours
Posted on December 22, 2009 | 3 CommentsThe tsunami of 2004 was a life changing experience for me. Having barely escaped death, I gathered with survivors in Maldives awaiting rescue. It was there that I saw a most memorable and touching scene: citizens from all over the world, no matter their beliefs or their race, united in the face of disaster. They helped and treated each other just like a family. Their love inspired me, and I thought to myself, “What a wonderful world we would live in if we could share just a little bit of love with each other every single day.” From this vision was born the One Foundation, an organization that believes that, if everyone, every month, gave a little bit of time or donated a small sum, together we could change the world. Today, the One Foundation has grown to include the support of many individuals and organizations, and continues to expand its global family. One Foundation’s rapid growth has been made possible through close partnerships with the world’s leading philanthropic organizations, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has been a most distinguished friend. -

The Red Cross Red Crescent tsunami operation is among the largest logistic manoeuvres in the history of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in terms of territorial coverage, number of staff and volunteers involved, budget, number of programme activities, and the number of National Societies working directly in the affected areas in support of the host National Society, in this case Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).

Posted on October 21, 2009 | No Comments
